Study an interior design course online from anywhere

An Interior Designer shapes how a space functions and flows, transforming an interior to meet a client brief. An Interior Decorator brings a space to life through colour, furniture and fabrics, elevating the lives of the people who use it. A Stylist curates spaces and products to enhance their desirability for a photoshoot, property sale, or event. Train as an Interior Designer with our Diploma of Interior Design, as an Interior Decorator with our Certificate IV in Interior Decoration, or as a Stylist with our Certificate IV in Design (Styling).

You can study interior design online in two ways: self-paced online or in our live virtual studio. Self-paced online lets you start any time and work through our eCampus at your own pace, with Educator support by email, phone and video call. Virtual studio is real time online learning in a small class, with live demos, briefs and critiques. Both lead to the same nationally accredited Sydney Design School qualification.

No. Our courses guide you step by step, so you can start with no experience. The Certificate IV in Interior Decoration is the perfect place to begin if you are new to design. All you need is a passion for interiors and a computer to get started. Want to test the waters first? Our short courses in styling, colour and software are a great way to begin. Not sure where you fit? Our team is happy to talk through your options.

Yes. Self-paced online has no fixed class times, so you can start any time and study around work and family. You can pay as you go or by instalments, and pause and restart your studies when life events come up. If you prefer live classes, our virtual studio runs during Australian public school terms, allowing parents to pause study during the holidays.

Not at all. Self-paced online study is flexible but never solo. Your Educators are with you every step of the way, and you present your interim and final critiques live via Zoom to an industry expert. Live webinars and creative meet-ups connect you with fellow students, suppliers and leading design professionals, so you are part of a creative community.

Yes. A nationally accredited vocational qualification is recognised by employers, and it speeds up your learning so you can start working with confidence sooner. Many of our graduates go on to start their own business. Your portfolio is key to finding work, and you build it with every assessment you complete. You’ll graduate with industry-standard projects that you can show clients and employers.

Yes. Self-paced online can be studied from anywhere in the world, at any time that suits you. Our virtual studio can also be joined from anywhere, but classes run live on Sydney time 9.30am – 4.30pm, so check that the schedule works for your time zone before you apply. Either way, no visa is required.
